Stop Motion Tutorial & Refined Storyboards

This tutorial shows how to put photos into iMovie similar to the way that AfterEffects handles them. The speaker was very clear and concise, and I might be using this to put together my final!

Problem 2: Stop Motion - Storyboards

For Problem 2, we are creating instructional videos using stop-motion animation. I will be showing the audience how to get ready for bed. My plan is to be surrounded by inanimate objects that are moving, through stop motion, around me.

Problem 1

This is a link to my final video for Problem 1. The word I chose, trip, was fun to animate and allowed for some humor and personality for each letter.

After Effects Tutorial: Shapes

This tutorial teaches how to use the shape tool settings in After Effects. This will be helpful for finishing up the current project as well as working on future projects. I wish he had covered more about working with the pen tool or changing the default shapes, but overall it was a helpful tutorial.

After Effects Beginning Tutorial

This is a neat tutorial I found that deals with shapes and layers, but type could easily be substituted for the shapes in this case. The guy speaking was very easy to understand and explained concepts well as he demonstrated them onscreen. This tutorial was on a list with about 50 other tutorials. The list can be found here. I was disappointed that Digital Tutors only offered short segments of videos with the free trial, so this was a very handy resource.

Storyboard & Motion Tests

Storyboard

The Pros:
I'm using 3 definitions of the word "trip": going on a trip, tripping and falling, and an electrical trip. This will allow for a good amount of content and will also allow the letters to have some personality. These animations aren't terribly challenging yet, which is to my advantage because I will be able to make them work and look exactly how I want them.

The Cons:
I'd like to experiment with more creative ways to visualize going on a trip. Perspective might be a good tool to try. I'm also not sure if the electrical definition of trip is obvious enough.
